In 2018, our founder Wei Ling was working a corporate job in Raffles Place and starting every day with a $7 latte that tasted like burnt regret. She'd just come back from a year in Melbourne and couldn't shake the feeling that Singapore deserved better.
A year later, after weekend roasting trials in her HDB kitchen and far too many barista-school evenings, she signed the lease on a tiny shophouse on Keong Saik. Day one, July 2019: one La Marzocco, four stools, twelve customers, and a chalkboard menu in handwriting we still use today.
"We didn't open to be the trendiest café in town. We opened so our neighbours could have somewhere warm to land in the morning."
Five years on, we've added a kitchen, three more baristas, a small roastery in the back, and a community we genuinely love. The chalkboard's still there. So is the original La Marzocco.
